Fiji...

I think many people think of Fiji as a place where the rich and famous go to vacation. Pictures of miles of coastline with white sand, palm trees, and 5 star hotels is more than likely the first thing that comes to mind. At first thought, it might not make much sense to go evangelize a place like the one mentioned above, especially since it's considered a "Christian" nation.

BUT, Jen and I have found that Fiji is much different than our Western minds have imagined. Yes, there are resorts, beaches, and palm trees. But only in small select areas. The vast majority of Fiji is your typical 3rd world country. Poverty, corruption, religious control, massive abuse, etc... However, we are seeing HUGE breakthrough in the peoples' lives here. Over 3,200 have made first time commitments after our 2nd week in country. We have 5 more to go. A Hindi pastor was saved and is being discipled, a man got out of a wheel chair after 20 years, asthma is being cured, etc... Jesus is on the move.

In addition to all of that, Fiji has BIG bugs. Cockroaches, beetles, moths the size of small birds...seriously. Imagine taking a shower only to see a frog the size of softball jump right in front of you followed by a mondo roach. This is the Fiji we have discovered. AND WE LOVE IT! We've slept on straw mats, on the floor, on ferries, and buses. This is the Fiji we know. AND WE LOVE IT!

Please keep our family in your prayers.

PS...We will be posting some Fiji footage on Monday or Tuesday!
